Weaving shade nets from textile waste to aid Ukraine
• WHAT will be done
Description:
At Saku Municipality House, guided by the Saku Women’s Voluntary Defence organization, workshops are held on four evenings during the week, where participants can weave shade nets and prepare the materials for this purpose. The textile scraps used for the workshops come from various textile manufacturing companies in Estonia. The workshop welcomes all enthusiasts regardless of age. The completed shade nets will be sent to Ukraine to protect civilian objects, soldiers’ lives, and equipment.
In 2022, solely through the weaving of shade nets in Saku, 55 kilograms of post-consumer textile waste were saved from ending up in landfills or being incinerated.
