The Eco-Friendly Farmer Card Project, aimed at separately collecting agricultural pesticide packaging waste for the sake of human and environmental health, was initiated in Kumluca District, Antalya, where agricultural production is intensive, on August 19, 2022. Smart pesticide packaging waste collection machines have been placed at a total of 8 locations in Kumluca District. Following the success of the project in Kumluca, it was expanded to other districts with a high level of agricultural production. Three smart collection machines were installed in Finike District, and two in Demre District, resulting in a total of 13 smart collection machines. These machines operate with chip-embedded keychains assigned to farmers, which are delivered to them after their information has been registered in the system. Informed farmers send pesticide packaging waste containers for recycling, contributing to the economy as secondary raw materials. In return, farmers are incentivized with a point system to receive equipment (gifts) that they can use in agricultural production for each packaging waste item they contribute to recycling. So far, within the scope of the project continuing in 3 districts, a total of 2622 farmers have been reached, and 1332 kg of packaging waste has been collected. The project is ongoing and will be expanded throughout the Antalya province.

As part of this initiative, farmers in the Finike district will receive information on pesticide packaging waste and will be provided with keychains after registration. To prevent the damage caused by pesticide packaging to the environment and human health and to provide incentives to farmers by recycling the packaging waste.
