Els ENCANTS d’UNICEF
• WHAT will be done
Description:
The UNICEF Committee of Andorra is organizing the 12th edition of the Encants d’UNICEF, a second-hand fashion market, on November 23, 24, and 25, aimed at raising funds for its international cooperation projects. In this new edition, we will once again enjoy the collaboration of The Embassy with the assignment of the 2nd floor of their building for our market, in Andorra La Vella. This year, because of the European Week for Waste Reduction, the proceeds will go to the project in Madagascar.
The vulnerability of Madagascar to climate change is threatened by the unsustainable systems currently in the country. Madagascar’s energy balance shows that around 80% of its total energy consumption is based on biomass fuels, such as firewood and charcoal, which release gases that aggravate climate change when burned. The expansion of sustainable energy systems in Madagascar will be crucial to help communities become more resilient to the effects of climate change and to build a greener future for the country. UNICEF is working to accelerate the deployment of solar-powered water systems in 20 villages affected by drought in the South of Madagascar, in the Androy region.
We hope that this edition will be a great success and we thank all the donors and collaborators (The Embassy, Pomponette Events, Bespoke Closet, VIA MODA, El Periòdic, Altaveu, Bon dia, Diari Andorra) for their involvement and selfless help.
