Zero waste shopping at Sonas Lisburn

WHAT will be done

Description:

Celebrate Our Second Birthday During EWWR Week 2025!

We’re proud to mark two years of running a zero-waste refill store and café in Lisburn, Northern Ireland — with a strong focus on local and organic foods.

At our shop, you’ll find a wide selection of unpackaged goods including pasta, rice, nuts, seeds, olive oil, vinegars, cereals, flour, dried fruits, baking ingredients, snacks, chocolate, and sweets. We’re also a weekly pick-up point for Helen’s Bay Organic veg bags, and now offer loose, hyper-local organic vegetables grown right here in Lisburn — so you can buy just what you need.

We stock Miniml refill products for cleaning, laundry, and personal care, and our café serves a seasonal, made-from-scratch menu. Each month, we host long table community meals, and our space is regularly used by local groups for meetings and conversation.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We reuse packaging from deliveries — offering cardboard to no-dig gardeners and boxes to movers — and customers donate egg boxes so we can sell unboxed local organic eggs (with trays returned to the producer). We recycle our tea, coffee, and hot chocolate bags, and clean and reuse jars, boxes, and bottles so customers can take their purchases home waste-free. All food waste is composted, and our staff are trained in proper waste handling and sorting.

These are just a few of the ways we live our values every day. Come celebrate with us!
