WEEE Care: Safe Recycling for Our School Community

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

We will be introducing the use of a WEEE trolley provided by WEEE Malta Ltd. This will provide the whole school community with the possibility of disposing small electric and electronic devices in a safe space which will then be directed to the right channels for disposal. The action will include:

  • outreach to the students and staff via an assembly organised by EcoSchool Council;
  • outreach to parents through social media channels;
  • opportunities for students and staff to bring in WEEE at any point during EWWR and beyond.
  • opportunities for parents to visit a dedicated stand during Parents’ Day and Open Day where EcoSchool Council students will provide information about this initiative and statistical information about how much WEEE is actually dumped in the black bag locally.
  • linking to our 2-year action plan which focuses on Air Quality and which integrates Globe Education protocols for the collection of data. This will be done through raising awareness about what happens when harmful materials are disposed of incorrectly e.g. release of gases, burning of plastics.
