WasteOn
• WHAT will be done
Description:
As a preliminary task regarding this year’s focus theme, the children will create action posters, which will be displayed at the village level so that we can also address the population regarding the theme week. We will also organize a presentation on the topic for the theme week, as the management and reduction of e-waste is a major environmental and economic challenge. as these devices contain both hazardous and valuable raw materials. Focusing on the focus theme, the posters and presentation will focus on the prevention, repair, reuse, professional collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
We organize a class competition to see which class can collect the most e-waste (the school has a designated collection point for this purpose, and the parents have agreed to take the collected waste to the appropriate landfill).
During the week, each student makes their own eternal napkin or snack bag made of recycled textile and beeswax. We obtain the beeswax from local and surrounding honey producers. The children also promote these at local convenience stores and the market, where they can receive a beeswax napkin or snack bag in exchange for the e-waste brought to school by the public.
We make flower pots and insect hotels from used tin cans for the school yard and school garden. We also set up insect hotels in public parks. We will also use the cans used in the kitchens of the village institutions, thus reducing waste in the spirit of recycling. We will also make compost from the kitchen green waste, which we will use in the raised beds of the school garden and in the flower beds in the parks.
On the last day of the action week, we will organize a litter pick-up campaign in the village and in the nature reserve located on the outskirts of the village.
