With the help of teachers, the student council at our school organised a collection of electrical and electronic waste from students during the school week. The initiative involved setting up a collection point for cables, broken smartphones and other small IT equipment and items not commonly used by young people. This will encourage further reflection on the nature of commonly used equipment, correct disposal methods and the recoverable resources they contain. During the week, science teachers will discuss WEEE to promote the collection. The waste will then be taken to the city’s recycling centre, where a report will be drawn up on the amount of electronic waste collected.
