Waste Reduction Week in Hatvan
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Programs for the 2025 European Week for Waste Reduction
Organized by the Pro Natura Movement, the city of Hatvan will join the European Week for Waste Reduction in 2025, which aims to strengthen environmental awareness, promote waste prevention, recycling and sustainability.
As part of the program series, several community events will be held, drawing attention to the importance of environmental protection and the power of local cooperation.
Autumn garbage collection (Saturday, November 22, 2025)
The city’s residents, civil organizations and volunteers will jointly clean the inner and outer areas of Hatvan from illegally dumped waste.
The program aims to draw attention to the importance of protecting our environment, as well as the power of responsible waste management and community cooperation.
Stork nest weaving in the name of nature conservation. (Tuesday, November 25, 2025, 9:00–11:00)
In cooperation with the Mártai group of the Bükki National Park Directorate, disabled residents of the Hatvan Mountain Walk Club are weaving stork nests for protected birds living in the city.
The number of nesting storks in Hatvan tripled in the spring of 2025, so the city government and the population have a common goal of protecting stork habitats. The artificial nests made during the program will be attached to newly placed nest holders, thus facilitating the safe nesting of birds.
ECO-Game Day (Thursday, November 27, 2025, 13:00–14:00)
The aim of the interactive program organized on the occasion of the European Waste Reduction Week is to playfully introduce the topics of waste management and energy saving.
During the awareness-building and skill-building sessions, children can participate in an ECO playhouse, where they can learn through playful tasks what we can do to reduce environmental impact.
In the play area, we contrast energy-wasting examples with correct, economical solutions, thus encouraging a conscious lifestyle.
Participation in the program is free.
The Hatvan events build on community participation, awareness-building and nature protection. The goal of the Pro Natura Movement is to demonstrate to all ages in a tangible, experience-based way that environmental protection is our common responsibility, and that we can all do something for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
