Tychero Recycles! 2025
• WHAT will be done
Description:
The “Tychero Recycles!” Action Plan at the General High School of Tychero is a year-long initiative, aligned with the EWWR 2025 (European Week for Waste Reduction) thematic focus on WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). The core objective is the organized collection and sustainable management of WEEE, ink/toner cartridges, and related computer peripherals.
Phase 1, running from September to October, involves an awareness campaign focusing on the proper sorting and management of these specific wastes. A permanent, central collection station is established with three clearly marked bins for source separation: small WEEE, ink/toner cartridges, and other recyclables (cables, CDs/DVDs). Educational presentations are delivered across all classes to promote correct sorting practices.
Phase 2, commencing in November with a dedicated EWWR collection drive, emphasizes the principles of Reuse and Preparing for Reuse. Collected items are regularly assessed by a student team; functional or easily repairable devices are diverted for reuse within the school or for donation. The plan also promotes Strict Avoidance and Reduction at Source by advocating for refillable cartridges and limited printing. The final phase (May-June) involves coordinating the pickup of collected materials by licensed carriers and reporting the total weight of recycled and reused items.
