Tullycarnet Community Centre – Textile repair session

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

The third of three textile repair sessions will take place during EWWR, at Tullycarnet Community Centre, Belfast.
Week one will cover darning, week two will be all about patching and in week three we will teach how to replace a button.
In addition to creating a button brooch, participants will sew buttons onto a piece of pre cut vintage Belfast linen. This will be used to create a 1913 era dress, decorated with the techniques covered over the three weeks that we can use to promote the importance of repair skills.

All basic skills that can keep our clothes from becoming waste. While we do this we talk a little about textile waste just to put in context how important it is to keep these skills alive.
