Description:
♻️ EkoSkola School Bazaar: Promoting Circularity and Reuse
To promote the core principles of Reuse and Repurpose and Reduction of waste, the EkoSkola committee successfully organized a school bazaar during the annual SPMC Family Day on May 6, 2025.
Our initiative focused on engaging the entire school community—students, staff, and parents—to donate unwanted items (clothing, books, kitchen equipment, home decorations, toys, etc.) through announcements sent via MySchool. To maximize impact, EkoSkola students and their coordinators also visited shops in the school’s vicinity, informing them about the bazaar and collecting surplus shop items that would otherwise have been discarded. EkoSkola coordinators collected unwanted items from local artisanal manufacturers and other local distributors.
Students took the lead in promoting circularity by designing a persuasive poster to encourage donations and attendance. The bazaar’s central concept is to lengthen the lifespan of goods by encouraging the purchase of pre-loved items, thereby shifting focus away from single-use and disposable products that are still in good condition.
The money collected from the sale of these repurposed goods will directly fund future EkoSkola projects. Building on this success, the next annual SPMC EkoSkola Family Day Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026.
