WHAT will be done

Description:

The aim of the program is to engage MATE students, staff, and the international community in promoting the conscious use and extended life cycle of electronic devices, while reducing e-waste. Through playful and interactive activities, participants will be encouraged to rethink their tech habits and take tangible steps towards circular thinking.

Programs:
1. “Give–Take Tech Fair” (Repair & Reuse Fair)
• Students and staff can bring in their working but unused devices (e.g. phone, laptop, cable, keyboard, mouse, etc.) and exchange them.
• International students can also get involved, making it a multicultural community event.
2. “Repair Café – Bring your laptop back to life” Partner: Repair Café BP café, workshop
• Workshop where experts show students, lecturers, and staff how to revive old devices (e.g. battery replacement, operating system reinstallation, e-waste disassembly).
• Workshop on sustainable IT (e.g. Green IT, circular economy).
3. “Think Before You Click” – Conscious digital consumption campaign Partner: Carbon Crane n. organization
• Online campaign that draws attention to reducing the digital footprint: fewer unnecessary emails, optimizing cloud storage, conscious use of video streaming, etc. . ea, you can ask questions, discuss.
• Multilingual infographics, short videos, posters (Hungarian–English) are being prepared.
4. “From Device to Nature” – Tree planting for e-waste
• e.g. for every 10kg of devices or batteries returned, the University undertakes to plant a tree/bush/perennial on campus.
• Excellent PR value and spectacular sustainability gesture.
️ 5. “Digital Detox Day” – A day without screens
• Voluntary challenge: students and lecturers minimize the use of electronic devices for one day.
• Accompanying programs: joint walk – SZIA Garden visit in good weather; Dr. Apolka Ujj and György Fekete: How to compost? Presentation of the biogas plant and its operating principle, the biowaste collection system of the Szent István Campus; ea. and workshop; “offline” games, discussion evening with the invitation of international and Hungarian students.
Target group: MATE students, lecturers and employees – with special attention to members of the international community.
