Reducing Single Use Plastics (SUP) – Belfast City Council

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

As part of EWWR, Belfast City Council will be delivering a week-long internal communications campaign to highlight the council’s on-going efforts to reduce our use of single use plastics (SUP) to our staff. This campaign will include highlighting the council’s key strategic waste reduction goals for the next number of years and profiling the activities of the organisation’s SUP working group. The campaign will also spotlight key areas of recent success in SUP reduction across the council – including significant progress in developing policy and processes to reduce SUP, the introduction of recycled bin bags and the addition of recycled products in the gift shop at Belfast Zoo.

Additionally, the campaign will provide staff with tips and advice on how they can reduce their SUP dependence through the course of their working and home lives – aiming to build a culture of both on-going awareness and incremental, meaningful change across the activities of the organisation.
