Office REboot! – we are rebooting our approach

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

The Mayor’s Office and its institutions of the City of Kecskemét County Law will join the Waste Reduction Week this year, whose main topic in 2025 is electronic waste (e-waste). The aim of the program is to draw attention to the conscious use of electronic devices, the possibilities of reuse, and the environmentally friendly treatment of unnecessary devices. In order to shape attitudes, we are launching a questionnaire survey among the employees of the Mayor’s Office and local government institutions. The aim of the survey is to map out how participants use electronic devices and what opportunities there are for more conscious, more economical operation. Those completing the questionnaire will receive individual, household-specific tips and suggestions for both waste reduction and energy waste reduction. These practical tips will help our everyday habits become more environmentally friendly, while also resulting in cost savings in the long run.

In order to reduce the amount of electronic waste, we will first focus on reuse – since the most environmentally friendly device is the one we already own, and with proper use we can make it last longer. As part of the initiative, we will launch a questionnaire survey among the employees of the Mayor’s Office and local government institutions to learn about everyday usage habits and explore opportunities for more conscious energy and device use.

Those completing the questionnaire will receive personalized tips and suggestions for their household regarding both waste reduction and energy waste reduction.

The highlight of the program week will be on November 26, when, within the framework of a series of professional lectures, interested parties will be able to get acquainted with smart home solutions, learn what causes the most common household appliance failures, and how these problems can be prevented through conscious use.

The results of the questionnaire survey will also be presented and evaluated on this day, which will be presented by the city’s energy officer.

At the end of the program, the “most energy-efficient colleague” who applies best practices in both workplace and home energy use will receive an award.

As the final event of the awareness-raising week, we will organize a free electronic waste collection campaign for the employees of the Office and its institutions on November 28, 2025. When arriving at work that day, colleagues can bring in their waste electronic devices, which will be inspected on site. Devices that have been proven to be waste will be professionally collected and removed as part of the campaign. However, if they are still functional, we trust that they will find a new owner with someone else. With this initiative, we not only protect the environment, but also relieve our colleagues of the task of safely disposing of unnecessary devices.

The goal of the program is to strengthen environmentally conscious thinking in everyday life and work together for a sustainable, greener future.
