Description:
Library circulation – Pass it on, don’t throw it away!
Kiskunfélegyháza Petőfi Sándor City Library’s campaign for European Waste Reduction Week
Our library is drawing attention to circular thinking with several collection and attitude-shaping campaigns during this year’s European Waste Reduction Week. In our adult lending library, we are waiting for readers with book recommendations about waste reduction, sustainability and future hypotheses, with which we aim to shape the attitude of our visitors. In 2022, we joined the Jane Goodall Institute’s “Pass it back, bro!” mobile phone collection campaign, and this week we are encouraging our readers to hand in their unwanted mobile phones with a special call. In addition, we are publishing the Védegylet Association’s informative poster exhibition on e-waste in the eco-corner. We are also waiting for paper and canvas bags to be handed in at our bag lending library. We collect Christmas toys and children’s books for the needy families of the city and microregion of Kiskunfélegyháza, as well as craft supplies for the Families’ Transitional Home. We promote our used battery collection service in our library, and we also support the city’s elementary school paper collections with our institutional paper waste.
At the end of the campaign, we summarize how many objects and materials arrived at the library during the given period – thus illustrating how much we can do as a community to reduce waste.
