Launch of Ink Cartridge Recycling at Council Recycling Centres

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

Derry City & Strabane District Council are launching a new recycling initiative aimed at householders throughout the council region. The recycling scheme launched in partnership with Harvard Manufacturing Limited will provide householders the facility to return their used printer ink cartridges to their local Recycling Centre.

Council in partnership with Harvard Manufacturing Limited will provide bins in each Recycling Centre for householders to drop off their used printer ink cartridges. Used printer inks should not be placed in normal household waste as they contain electronic components. For each reusable printer cartridge received Harvard will donate to their charity partner Concern Worldwide. Over the past twenty years Harvard Manufacturing Limited has raised over £100,000 for Concern worldwide through ink recycling programmes.

Please note that this scheme is for small inkjet cartridges used in household printers and does not cover the recycling of the larger laser printer type toner cartridges used widely in businesses. Toner cartridges should be returned to their original manufacturer. Printer ink and toner cartridges can now be taken to any of our household recycling centres (HRCs) to be recycled, free of charge
