Our Ekoskola team raised funds and purchased reusable plastic envelopes which were distributed to every student at the secondary school. The students are strongly encouraged to submit all the funds and forms that are regularly collected for various school activities in these envelopes to avoid unnecessary consumption of paper envelopes. We have done an exercise where we collected ALL the paper envelopes used by the whole school throughout the year and weighed them – the weight amounted to about 12-14kg which made us realise the reusable envelopes would make a significant positive impact on reducing paper consumption. If many other establishments follow this practice the impact will be even more significant.
