WHAT will be done

Description:

During the implementation of the European Waste Reduction Week, all groups of our kindergarten are actively involved in the process of environmental education and practical knowledge of the basic principles of sustainability.
Our main goal is to establish environmentally conscious behavior, appreciate objects, recycle, and reduce waste.
The week’s programs create an opportunity for children to learn the basic rules of waste reduction, recycling, and selective collection in a playful way.
The knowledge gained through experience helps to establish environmentally conscious behavior and strengthens children’s sense of responsibility for nature.
Joint activities, exhibitions, and visits develop cooperation, a sense of belonging to the community, and creative thinking.
The involvement of parents contributes to deepening the partnership between the family and the kindergarten, as well as extending the formation of attitudes to the home environment.
The program focuses on leading by example, experiential learning and discovery, through which children experience the importance of environmental protection through their own experiences.
During the week, each age group can participate in activities according to their own level of development, thus ensuring inclusive, differentiated development.
During the activities, aesthetic education, the development of manual skills and problem-solving thinking are emphasized.
The joint exhibition and presentation at the end of the week strengthens the children’s self-expression and sense of success.
Overall, the program contributes to the long-term foundation of environmental awareness, the development of a commitment to sustainability and the strengthening of the kindergarten community’s green attitude.

Topic: Getting to know waste
Central program (kindergarten level): “Waste detectives” – a common yard game: collecting and sorting various materials (paper, plastic, metal).
Group-level ideas / implementation: Sorting game in groups, stories about garbage, sorting memory game.
Involving parents: Collecting sorted waste at home for creative purposes.

2025.11.25.
Topic: E-waste – What is it and where does it go?
Central program (kindergarten level): Through a PPT projection, children learn about the classification of waste and the concept of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste).
Using pictures, short videos and stories, they discover what devices work with electricity, what happens if they break down, and how we can safely handle or dispose of them.
Group-level ideas / implementation: Playful discussion in groups about devices powered by electricity, simple experiments (e.g. how a flashlight works, battery swapping game).
Parent involvement: Parents create a recycled creation at home with their children, which can be brought to the kindergarten and exhibited during the week.

2025.11.26.
Topic: Recycling Day
Central program (at the kindergarten level): “New life for objects” craft morning – creation from waste (e.g. robot, toy, ornament).
Group-level ideas / implementation: Each group creates a creation, joint exhibition in the kindergarten hall or corridor.
Parent involvement: Parents can provide raw materials (box, cap, textile scraps).

2025.11.27.
Topic: Technology of the past
Central program (kindergarten level): Children are introduced to the world of old technical devices.
We talk together about how life changed in the past, when there were no computers or smartphones, and what electrical devices were used back then.
Children discover how technology has developed over the years through the images, sounds and stories of old objects.
Group-level ideas / implementation: Visit to Győry Castle, viewing the Local History Exhibition.
Children can learn about objects of use from the past – such as record players, radios, televisions, sewing machines – and observe how they differ from today’s devices.
Parental involvement: Parents can look for old objects or photos at home with their child, which they can view together, and the child can tell the kindergarten what they found.
Those who know how can also bring in a safe, non-working old device for demonstration.

2025.11.28.
Topic: Closing day – Viewing an exhibition.
Central program (at kindergarten level): Joint exhibition of recycled works.
Group-level ideas / implementation: Groups present their works.
