Electronic Garbage Art: From e-waste to expression
• WHAT will be done
Description:
In this action students from Agriculture, Food, and Environment sector will explore the intersection of technology, sustainability, and creativity by transforming discarded electronic components into unique works of art. Students will first participate in a short workshop about e-waste, its environmental consequences, and safe handling of electronic materials. Then, in small teams or individually, they will collect unused or broken electronic parts, such as circuit boards, cables, keyboard keys, microchips, and other non-functional hardware, and they will design and create artworks combining electronic components with other materials such as paint, wood, cardboard, clay, and recycled paper, repurposing them into mixed-media paintings, sculptures, decorative items, and installations. Through this hands-on artistic process, students will reflect on the environmental impact of e-waste and learn how creative reuse can contribute to circular economy principles. The activity encourages innovation, teamwork, and environmental responsibility while enhancing STEM and Art (STEAM) skills. At the end, they will exhibit their mixed-media artworks.
