Ctrl+Alt+Del for e-junk!
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Our school aims to raise awareness of the problem of electronic waste and to inspire students and teachers to take action. In our three-step program, we first encourage students to map their e-waste at home (Ctrl), then we look for alternative solutions to reduce waste – in the form of posters, presentations and a short lecture (Alt), and finally we set up a collection point at school where unnecessary devices can be safely recycled (Del).
Program elements:
1. Ctrl – Check what you have!
– Students are encouraged to look at what unnecessary, faulty or unused electronic devices they have at home (e.g. old phones, chargers, batteries, pen drives).
– They can take a photo of it and put it on a map at school: “How much e-waste is around us?”
2. Alt – Presenting alternative solutions
– School poster or presentation competition: how can e-waste be reduced, reused or recycled?
3. Del – Let’s dispose of e-waste responsibly!
– E-waste collection day(s): a designated collection point at the school where students and teachers can bring their devices.
– The collected e-waste is transported with the help of an official recycling partner.
