COMPOST AT SCHOOL
• WHAT will be done
Description:
CEIP LA LLAURIA will activate its composting system and organise the daily collection of organic waste generated from students’ snacks and school lunches. All collected food waste will be added to the school compost bin to produce natural compost that will later be used as fertiliser in the school garden.
This initiative promotes awareness of food waste reduction, teaches responsible environmental habits, and demonstrates the value of reusing organic waste within our own community.
Objectives:
- Reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfill.
- Promote sustainable practices and circular economy principles.
- Engage the whole educational community in responsible waste management.
- Use the produced compost as a natural substrate for the school garden.
Expected results:
- Daily reduction of organic waste at school.
- Production of quality compost for educational and ecological use.
- Increased student awareness and participation in sustainable actions.
- Strengthened environmental values and teamwork among pupils.
Communication and visibility:
The action will be promoted through school posters, assemblies, and the school’s website and social media. Students will take part in documenting the composting process through photos, drawings, and short reports.
