• WHAT will be done
Description:
Project title:
19 kindergartens – a green mission! – Urban E-waste collection campaign with the cooperation of 19 kindergartens
Participants:
19 kindergartens of the city of Kaposvár together
Related partners: local waste management, local government, parents’ associations
Period:
November 24–28, 2025 (European Waste Reduction Week)
Project objective:
To raise awareness of the conscious collection and recycling of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) by involving the community of urban kindergartens. Our goal is for children, parents and teachers to experience together that old, broken devices can also be valuable raw materials, and that we can reduce the burden on the environment with responsible waste management.
Target group:
• Preschool children (3–7 years old)
• Parents and family members
• Kindergarten staff, local community
Activities:
1. 1. Joint city call – “Let’s collect e-waste together!”
Kindergartens will create a uniform poster and flyer, which will be published in all institutions and online. During the campaign (Nov. 24–28), parents can take their household e-waste to the containers placed in kindergartens.
2. 2. “E-waste week in kindergarten” – awareness-raising activities
Fairy tale day: “The little robot who got a new life”
Playful sorting tasks (“What to where?”)
Creative creations: “Recycled creations in kindergartens
Song and movement games on the topic of recycling
3. 3. Connection with waste management
In cooperation with waste management, a container is provided in which kindergartens can collect e-waste. The aggregated data is fed back to the kindergartens at the end of the campaign.
Expected results:
• Parents manage e-waste more consciously and learn where to safely dispose of it.
• Children learn about environmentally conscious thinking in a playful way.
• The city community sets an example of the power of cooperation.
• A specific amount of e-waste is recycled, not put into municipal waste.
