The Italian Awards Ceremony of the European Week for Waste Reduction 2021 took place in the Auditorium of the Italian Ministry of the Ecological Transition, in Rome and was presented by AICA, member of the EWWR Steering Committee. After two years of digital events, it has been possible to celebrate good practices in person and give voice to Italian finalists and winners of the 13th EWWR edition.
The winners presented by AICA, among the 4,752 actions that were carried out in Italy, are:
- Public administration category: University of Pavia with OSA (Office for Sustainable Action), with the action “SERiously Sustainable”, which involved the students of the University in a well-designed programme dedicated to prevention.
- Association category: APS Colibrì Onlus, with a project of electromedical devices restorage, which have been sent afterwards to Senegal.
- Educational establishment category: Capizzi’s institute, with a laboratory dedicated to electronic devices regeneration.
- Business category: NaturaSì, with two initiatives focused on the “Reduction” of waste through two actions: the reduction of food waste starting from the fields and the reduction of packaging thanks to the sale of bulk products.
- Citizen(s) category: Letizia Palmisano (Chiacchiere da bar) won the prize for the second year, thanks to her actions of book-sharing and literary club in her favourite bar in Rome.
- Regarding the Special Prize, ECO.LAN SpA received this special recognition that this year celebrates 25-years of activity: «a system that has succeed to recycle a quantity of almost 1,300 Eiffel Tours of materials, CO2 savings equivalent to 130,000 flights from Rome to New York»
