Il Mercatino del Riuso: Imparo, Scambio e Rispetto
INFO [what will be done]
Description:
Title: The Reuse Market: Learning, Exchanging, and Respecting
Description: An environmental and civic education project aimed at primary school classes, designed to promote the circular economy and a culture of reuse during the European Week for Waste Reduction. The journey is structured in three phases:
-
Awareness and Collection: Students explore the concept of conscious consumption and bring clean, well-conditioned books, toys, and clothes from home.
-
Cataloging and the “Barter Coin”: Children manage the inventory of items and introduce a symbolic currency to ensure a fair exchange.
-
The Market Day: The school lobby transforms into a marketplace where students take turns acting as “stallholders” and shoppers, trading goods without using real money.
Any leftover items are donated to local charities or used for ongoing school reuse initiatives. The project integrates sustainability with core curriculum subjects (Italian, Mathematics, and Civic Education – UN Agenda 2030, Goal 12).
