Share your views: “What is the role of local and regional authorities in the transition towards a circular economy?”

We warmly invite you to provide input as the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) prepares an Opinion on the role of local and regional authorities in the transition towards a circular economy. Scheduled for 5 March, this consultation aims to gather diverse perspectives to shape the CoR opinion. The different actors will reflect on different areas related to a circular model:

  • supporting local stakeholders;
  • development of local strategies;
  • multilevel dialogue to ensure participation in circular economy initiatives and a ‘fair transition’;
  • circular/green public procurement for local and regional authorities: opportunities and challenges;
  • better alignment of funding and finance instruments with overarching local action plans.

Stakeholders are encouraged to register for the event by 29 February 2024 and may submit written contributions to further enrich the discussions. The outcomes of this consultation will contribute to the drafting of a comprehensive opinion, anticipated for final discussion in April and formal approval in the CoR plenary session in June 2024.
