The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) has selected five Catalan actions carried out during the 13th European Week for Waste Reduction to represent ARC’s area of influence in the EWWR 2021 Awards ceremony. The selection at regional level was based on the criteria defined by the jury of the European Awards: visibility and communicational aspects; quality of content; originality and exemplarity; lasting impact & follow-up.
The nominees presented by the ARC in the different categories are:
- Public administration category: Badalona City Council, with the “De l’oli a la pica, ni mica” campaign. It is a proposal to raise public awareness of the impact of mismanagement of domestic oil, increase the amount of oil recycled and improve the network of supply points.
- Association category: the Education Platform, made up of eleven entities, has promoted the @mbientalMents campaign to raise awareness about environmental issues, including the fight against food waste.
- Educational establishment category: Sant Ròc School, with the multilingual communication project “Mission 5R” to reduce waste mountains!
- Business category: Mútua de Terrassa presents its Green Commitment, with the premise that healing health must go hand in hand with caring for the environment.
- Regarding the European Special Prize, ARC presents the Sant Josep de Navàs school with schools from France, Romania, India, Turkey, Tunisia and Portugal, and the project “Every action matters”, to involve and raise awareness students who need to act to achieve more sustainable local communities from small actions.
