AWARDS CEREMONY | The finalists of the Business/Industry category

Meet the finalists of the EWWR 2024 in the Business/Industry category:

  • EBKEKSZ implemented by Superjuice Kft. and Flash Kutyapékség Kft., in Budapest;

Dog biscuits from fruit pulp: Typically discarded in the food supply chain, fruit pulp is now being used to create healthy dog biscuits and treats in collaboration with another company. During the EWWR, the team tested the baked biscuits with dog owners. Their success led to the launch of a dedicated website, which shares their story, posts regular recipes, and encourages visitors to bake or cook for their pets in a sustainable way.

  • Food Waste Reduction implemented by Lidl Malta, in Malta;

Food donation system: A food donation initiative that supports local communities by reducing food waste through the donation of surplus food instead of discarding it. Initially piloted in one store, the system has now been rolled out across all 10 stores on the islands.

  • Municipality Driven- B2Binitiatives for food upcycling implemented by Anastasiou Brewery and Bread B.C, in Chalandri.

Upcycled food products: Greece’s first food upcycling products—bread made from spent brewery grains and beer brewed from leftover bread—were featured in an EWWR 2024 workshop. Participants toured the facilities and joined a brainstorming session to explore further B2B upcycling synergies.
