“Community rug” weaving on a loom

INFO [what will be done]

Description:

We will set up traditional looms at our hobby school and invite the entire community to weave a shared community rugs together. Everyone is welcome to join in, and we will use old T-shirts brought from home to make fabric strips for weaving.

By participating, we show that traditional craft skills help reduce waste and overconsumption. Our “community rug” symbolizes six main principles:

Refuse: We say no to buying new products.
Rethink: We change how we view old textiles and reconsider their purpose.
Reduce: We cut down on waste generation through our actions.
Reuse: We extend the lifecycle of items kept in our homes instead of throwing them away.
Repurpose: We take old T-shirts and transform them into a completely new and useful product.
Recycle: We process textile waste into a new usable material.

Project digital environment and long-term sustainability:
Our website: https://www.ewwrestonia.ee/english

To gather project activities, schedules, and outcomes, we have created a dedicated website. The website is not a one-off information channel, but a continuously evolving and updated platform that we manage and keep up to date throughout the preparation phase, during the EWWR week, and after the event.

Currently: We are already featuring the project preparation process, event schedules, and call-to-action notices for the community (e.g., material collection details) on the website.

During and after the event: We update the website in real time with photos and summaries, and publish practical digital learning materials and step-by-step guides (e.g., tutorials for braiding pet toys and visible mending techniques).

This dedicated website ensures the long-term accessibility of project outcomes and educational resources for the entire community in the future.
