As part of the European Week for Waste Reduction 2026, Via Humanitas is initiating a two-day community event in Dobrich, Bulgaria, bringing together young people, local organisations, schools, artists, volunteers and citizens to explore more sustainable ways of living. The initiative aims to encourage waste prevention, responsible consumption, reuse and creativity through interactive, non-formal educational activities.

The planned programme may include:

-Reuse and exchange activities: Opportunities for people to exchange clothes, books and other reusable items.

-Creative upcycling workshops: Giving unwanted materials and objects a new purpose through creativity.

-Interactive educational games: Engaging children, young people and adults in learning about waste reduction and environmental responsibility.

-Community dialogue: Informal discussions where participants can exchange ideas and explore practical ways to reduce waste in everyday life.

-Community solidarity: Exploring the possibility of a charity initiative connected to reuse and creative activities.

The event will be developed collaboratively with local partners, who will be invited to contribute their own activities, knowledge and resources. Our goal is not only to raise environmental awareness, but also to strengthen community connections, encourage volunteering and demonstrate how small individual actions can create meaningful collective change. The final programme will be shaped together with participating organisations and volunteers.
