Waste Less, Live More
INFO [what will be done]
Description:
“Waste Less, Live More” is a whole-school sustainability initiative bringing together students from Grades 1–12, teachers, and school staff to promote waste prevention, responsible consumption, and the efficient use of resources.
The initiative focuses on intergenerational collaboration within the school community. Older students will act as mentors, supporting younger students in exploring environmental challenges and developing practical solutions to reduce waste in everyday school life.
Throughout the European Week for Waste Reduction, students will participate in a variety of collaborative activities, including:
-
Swap, Don’t Shop: exchanging books, toys, school supplies, and other reusable items.
-
Repair, Don’t Replace: repairing and restoring everyday objects to extend their useful life.
-
Second Life Lab: creatively transforming existing materials into useful products and educational resources.
-
Every Bite Counts: investigating and reducing food waste in the school environment.
-
Less Is More: challenging the school community to reduce unnecessary packaging and single-use products.
-
Green Mentors: student-led workshops and interactive learning activities connecting younger and older students.
An important part of the initiative will be measuring its impact. Students will collect and analyse data on waste prevention, the reuse of materials, and changes in consumption habits.
The project aims not only to raise environmental awareness but also to strengthen cooperation, leadership, creativity, and shared responsibility among students of different ages.
Our long-term goal is to turn temporary actions into lasting habits, creating a school culture in which reducing waste, sharing resources, and making responsible choices become part of everyday life.
