Share your things, reduce waste! A Second Life Week at JESLS – Vratza

Joan Ekzarh Specialized Language School in Vratza, Bulgaria joins EWWR with a week of actions led by the Student Council, together the teachers of Chemistry, Biology and Art.

• Class competition: collection points for plastic caps and paper on every floor; daily weighting and ranking of classes. Caps are donated to the national charity campaign “Caps for the Future”, paper is sent for recycling.
• “Share your things” swap corner in the school lobby: students exchange books, clothes and accessories instead of buying new ones.
• “Old Thing, New Thing”: In Chemistry, Biology and Art lessons, students turn old materials into candles, seed paper, cards, painted jars and plant pots.
• “Second Life” bazaar (26-27 November) with the items made; all proceeds go to charity.

Our goal is to show that material sufficiency starts at school: using less, sharing more and giving things a second life.
