Small Actions, Big Impact
INFO [what will be done]
Description:
Dear Educators,
As part of our school’s participation in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) 2026, taking place from 21st to 29th November 2026, I invite each class to choose one sustainability action to implement with your students during the week.
You may choose from the following activities:
🌱 Waste Less Week
Encourage your class to adopt one or more environmentally friendly habits such as:
- Avoiding single-use plastics
- Using lunchboxes instead of disposable packaging
- Switching off lights when leaving the classroom
- Using both sides of paper
- Creating a “scrap paper tray” for unfinished sheets
📚 Book and Toy Swap Day
Students bring:
- A book they no longer read, or
- A toy/game in good condition
This activity promotes reuse and sharing.
🎨 Trash to Treasure Exhibition
Students create artwork, models, or useful items using recycled materials such as:
- Cardboard boxes
- Plastic bottles
- Egg cartons
- Fabric scraps
Completed projects will be displayed around the school.
🌼 Planting from Reused Materials
Students use reused containers such as:
- Yoghurt pots
- Plastic bottles
- Tins
to grow herbs, flowers, or vegetables.
To help us document our participation and prepare our EWWR submission, I kindly ask you to take photos of your chosen activity and email them to me. Photos of students participating, completed projects, displays, and classroom initiatives will be greatly appreciated.
All participating classes will receive a Waste Warriors Certificate in recognition of their efforts.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. Together, we can help our students develop environmentally responsible habits and contribute to a more sustainable future.
