Three-Eyed Frog’s Eco-Squad: Rethinking Our Resources

INFO [what will be done]

Description:

The Bin Detective” (Experiential Sorting Game)

Description: We prepare or use small bins in different colors (Blue for recycling, Brown for composting/organic waste, Green/Grey for general waste). We scatter cards or clean pieces of packaging across the floor.

Implementation: The children, divided into teams of “detectives,” must identify the material of each item and place it into the correct bin within a set amount of time. If an item is placed in the wrong bin (e.g., a greasy pizza box in the blue recycling bin), we discuss why this compromises the recycling process.
Making My Own Recycled Paper”

Description: We use old newspapers, unwanted photocopies, and basins of water.

Process: The children tear the old paper into very small pieces, soak them in warm water, and mix everything until it turns into a pulp. Next, they spread the pulp onto a mesh screen or a piece of thin fabric, press it to remove the water, and leave it to dry. The result is a brand-new, handmade sheet of paper that they can draw on.
