Little Hands, Less Waste, Brighter Future!

INFO [what will be done]

Description:

Growing Owls – European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR)

At Growing Owls, we believe that caring for our planet starts from a very young age. As part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), we are organizing a series of fun, educational, and hands-on activities to encourage our little learners, educators, and families to adopt environmentally friendly habits and understand the importance of reducing waste in everyday life.

Our initiative focuses on several sustainable practices:

  • Community Clean-Up: Our little owls will participate in supervised clean-up activities around our school surroundings, learning the importance of keeping our community clean and litter-free.

  • Waste Separation and Recycling: Through interactive and age-appropriate activities, children will learn how to separate different types of waste and understand the importance of recycling.

  • Reuse Before You Throw Away: We will encourage the reuse of bottles, containers, and other everyday materials, showing children how items can be given a second life instead of being discarded.

  • Say No to Plastic Bags: We will promote the use of reusable bags and encourage families to reduce single-use plastics.

  • Going Paperless: At Growing Owls, we aim to minimise unnecessary printing by communicating with parents and sharing information digitally through our school app, reducing paper consumption.

  • Every Drop Counts: Children will be encouraged to use water responsibly through simple daily habits, such as turning off taps when not in use and avoiding unnecessary water waste.

  • Reducing Food Waste: During mealtimes, children will learn to appreciate food, avoid unnecessary waste, and develop responsible eating habits.

Through these activities, we aim to make sustainability a natural part of our children’s daily routines, both at school and at home. By actively involving children, educators, and families, we hope to create a positive impact that extends beyond the European Week for Waste Reduction.

Our goal is not just to teach children about sustainability, but to help them practice it every single day.

At Growing Owls, we believe that small hands can make a big difference. By planting the seeds of environmental awareness today, we are helping to grow a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable tomorrow.
