RAIN SHARE: Do You Really Need to Own This?
Charity Workshop “For a Friend”
INFO [what will be done]
Description:
As part of this workshop, we will collect household textile scraps, old jersey fabrics, and unused fabric strips. Youth will use these materials to braid durable tug toys and craft cozy pet beds for dogs and cats. The finished items will be donated to a local animal shelter.
This activity combines environmental protection with social charity: young people learn to upcycle materials, cut down on textile waste, and support shelter animals at the same time. Our workshop symbolizes key sustainability principles:
Refuse: We say no to buying new commercial pet toys.
Rethink: We change how we view textile waste and use it for a good cause.
Reduce: We cut down on waste by utilizing leftover fabrics.
Reuse: We make good use of idle fabrics sitting in our homes.
Repurpose: We transform old jersey and fabric remnants into durable pet toys.
Recycle: We process textile waste into new, functional products.
Link to EWWR: This event gives textile waste a new and valuable purpose while creating a positive social impact (Waste Reduction with Social Impact).
