BYOC: Bring Your Own Container

For this year’s EWWR, Circular Economy Malta will continue to build on its Bring Your Own Container (BYOC) campaign, which encourages consumers to opt for reusable food containers instead of single-use takeaway packaging. Since its launch, the initiative has helped prevent a significant number of disposable containers from becoming waste, with an estimated 63,524 single-use containers avoided in 2024, 129,311 in 2025, and a further 99,310 containers avoided by the end of Q2 2026. Through ongoing awareness efforts and collaboration with participating establishments, the campaign aims to promote sustainable consumption habits, reduce packaging waste at source, and demonstrate how simple everyday actions can contribute to a more circular economy. The BYOC campaign continues to highlight the environmental benefits of reuse while encouraging long-term behavioural change among consumers and businesses alike.
