They are in charge of <strong>examining the shortlisted actions<\/strong> (those pre-selected by the\u00a0<span class=\"marksmr841ekz\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">EWWR<\/span>\u00a0coordinators) and of <strong>designating a winner for each of the 6 categories<\/strong>, according to the\u00a0<span class=\"marksmr841ekz\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">EWWR<\/span>\u00a0criteria (visibility and communicational aspects; quality of content; originality and exemplarity; and lasting impact &amp; follow-up).\u00a0The jury members for this edition are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Public administrations and organisations<\/strong>: Tjisse Stelpstra, European Committee of the Regions (CoR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tjisse Stelpstra is a Dutch civil servant, politician and administrator, a member of the ChristenUnie party. Mr. Stelpstra has been a member of Drenthe Provincial Executive since April 2015; since 2019, his portfolio has included climate, energy, the Regional Energy Strategy (RES), and the environment. He is the spokesperson of the EU Committee of the Regions (CoR) on circular economy and ECR Group representative in the Working Group on Green Deal. Mr. Stelpstra holds a law degree from the University of Groningen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39093 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MJJ-20201002-Stelpstra-28-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"136\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MJJ-20201002-Stelpstra-28-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MJJ-20201002-Stelpstra-28-1024x723.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MJJ-20201002-Stelpstra-28-550x388.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 192px) 100vw, 192px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is fantastic to see all these great projects and initiatives at the European Week for Waste Reduction. The Circular Economy is a cornerstone of the European Green Deal. I\u2019ve said several times: \u201cThere is no waste!\u201d We have to circulate all our valuable resources and develop awareness to a real circular society. In 2022, we are looking at the adoption of several key legislative acts such as the review of requirements on packaging and packaging waste in the EU. You raise awareness for sustainability and are truly the champions of circularity! While the EU and national governments have to set the necessary legal framework, it is citizens\u2019 initiatives, projects by NGOs, SMEs and educational institutions that show us in a very practical way what has to be done and that lead by example\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Associations\/NGOs<\/strong>: Andrea Gonzales, European Environmental Bureau (EEB)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Andrea works at the European Environmental Bureau, Europe\u2019s largest network of environmental citizens&#8217; organisations, and has been supporting different departments for the last four years. Currently, as part of the Membership team, she helps ensure the smooth functioning of a network that brings together over 170 civil society organisations from more than 35 European countries. In her free time Andrea keeps a blog in Galician where she encourages young people to live more sustainably. She shares\u00a0information about initiatives at local level and also ways to reduce the individual carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39097 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Andrea-Gonzalez-Rodriguez_EEB-300x272.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"171\" height=\"155\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Andrea-Gonzalez-Rodriguez_EEB-300x272.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Andrea-Gonzalez-Rodriguez_EEB-1024x928.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Andrea-Gonzalez-Rodriguez_EEB-550x498.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 171px) 100vw, 171px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Reading about all the initiatives that took place during EWWR 2021 has been truly inspiring! All over Europe, committed citizens explore new ways of managing our precious and scarce resources, and they share this knowledge with their communities. However, we need systemic support to incentivize these actions, through policies and taxation that will also discourage the harmful linear production and consumption models.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Business\/Industry<\/strong>: Lina Konstantinopoulou, Eurochambres<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Lina Konstantinopoulou is the Policy Director at Eurochambres. She is currently managing a team of Heads of Policy and Policy Advisors in five policy priority areas International Trade, Single Market, Skills , Economic Policy, Sustainable Europe, Neighborhood and Enlargement. <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">She has been leading NGO strategic planning and programming activities, management of various multi-stakeholder platforms and policy \/ public affairs and communication activities as well as managed a wide range of European research &amp; innovation projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39096 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2019_08_26_Lina_020-2-283x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"158\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2019_08_26_Lina_020-2-283x300.jpg 283w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2019_08_26_Lina_020-2-967x1024.jpg 967w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2019_08_26_Lina_020-2-550x583.jpg 550w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2019_08_26_Lina_020-2.jpg 1318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 158px) 100vw, 158px\" \/><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\">&#8220;Chambers of Commerce and Industry are already encouraging businesses to establish and incorporate policies focusing on best practices for recycling and waste reduction\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Educational Establishments<\/strong>: Sandra Federici, EPALE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sandra\u00a0Federici, PhD,\u00a0also a journalist, currently\u00a0carries out his consultancy work\u00a0as\u00a0Editorial Supervisor of EPALE, the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe, as Educational and Didactic Coordinator of the \u201cInternational School on Migration about The social dimension of the environmental transition\u201d and as\u00a0communication officer of Cartiera, an ethical fashion laboratory where disadvantaged people are employed in the production of\u00a0leather and fabrics accessories, promoting a circular economy process through upcycling processes by recovering materials meant to be disposed by luxury \u201cmade in Italy\u201d brands.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39098 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/sandra_49_ritratto-227x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"124\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/sandra_49_ritratto-227x300.jpg 227w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/sandra_49_ritratto-776x1024.jpg 776w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/sandra_49_ritratto-550x726.jpg 550w, https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/sandra_49_ritratto-scaled.jpg 1940w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 124px) 100vw, 124px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Local communities are increasingly understanding the importance of waste prevention and often surprise us with the innovativeness of their proposals.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Citizens:\u00a0<\/strong>Franc Bogovi\u010d , European Parliament (EP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bogovi\u010d is currently serving his second term as a Member of the European Parliament, where he is engaged in topics related to agriculture, rural and regional development, cohesion policy, as well as energy. Bogovi\u010d is also leading the Smart Villages initiative in the European Parliament. It also has a positive effect on the overall well-being of each individual, as they see with their own eyes how much less waste they generate.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>European Special Prize<\/strong>: Chiel Berends, European Commission (EC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chiel works in the waste unit of DG Environment on waste prevention, textiles and construction and demolition waste. Before that he worked at the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU and the Embassy of the Netherlands to Latvia.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39094 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ewwr.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Photo-Chiel.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"177\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We need significantly reduce waste generation and keep valuable resources in the economy longer.
