ES UNA MANERA DE REUTILIZAR UN RESIDUO COMO ES EL ACEITE DE FREIR Y UN PEQUEÑO OBSEQUIO PARA LOS PACIENTES. ( En otras ocasiones se entrega a una ONG para realización de biodiesel)

TURNING WASTE INTO FESTIVE DECORATIONS

As the holiday season draws near, embracing the joyous spirit of December comes hand in hand with a sobering consideration — the significant generation of waste during this festive period. Recognizing this concern, the Locals – Association of local arts center, Beno Zupančič Library Postojna and Hortikultura are taking a proactive step by organizing an engaging workshop. The focus of this workshop extends beyond the merriment of the holidays; it aims to address the pertinent issue of waste, specifically through the creation of Christmas tree decorations crafted from discarded materials, with a particular emphasis on packaging. The workshop aligns with the activities — creating decorations from waste — conducted by educational institutions in the Municipality of Postojna throughout the entire European Week for Waste Reduction, emphasizing the collective commitment to sustainability.

The primary objective of this initiative is twofold. Firstly, it seeks to bring attention to the often-overlooked challenge of waste management that escalates during the holiday season. Secondly, it endeavors to stimulate creative thinking among participants, encouraging them to explore innovative ways to curtail and repurpose waste. Beyond the workshop, the intention is to inspire participants to adopt sustainable practices in their holiday celebrations. The decorations created during the workshop serve as tangible reminders of the potential beauty that can emerge when waste is viewed as a resource rather than a burden, and these eco-friendly adornments will grace the trees which will line the main street in Postojna during the festive season.

MUSEUMS FOR THE FUTURE

In the Municipality of Postojna, Notranjska Museum Postojna is organizing a comprehensive Lecture and Roundtable that delves into practical tips and illuminating examples aimed at fostering more sustainable operations within cultural institutions. Notranjska Museum Postojna is the first museum in Slovenia to achieve the prestigious Green Key Certificate. This certification, recognized as the premier standard for exemplary environmental practices in the tourism industry, positions the museum as an exemplary model for other cultural institutions and tourism providers throughout Slovenia, who seek to minimize their environmental impact and enhance their sustainability efforts. In collaboration with Ecologists without Borders, an NGO dedicated to improving the state of our environment through active citizenship, and Destilator Studio, the club for sustainable solutions, they will cover 3 different topics:
1. Obtaining the Green Key Certification,
2. Organizing low-waste events,
3. Introducing Museum’s New Product line, which includes upcycled items from discarded museum’s tarpaulin.

COMPETITION #lacarmanyolamola

The main objective is to make students and teachers aware of the importance of using reusable containers in their snacks.
Each group of students that wants to participate in the contest must take an original photo with those who use reusable lunch boxes and water bottles. In addition, they must design a slogan to encourage those who do not use them to start doing so and integrate this environmentally friendly practice into their everyday lives. In this way, the use of aluminum foil and the plastic of single-use plastic water bottles is saved.
The teachers also can participate in the competition. We as teachers must set an example for our students and we will also be photographed with our tupperware and bottles.

Organised by a teacher of the Biology Department and also the coordinator of the Environment Commission. And this competition is being organised by this commission.

El mercadet de 2ª mà té com a objectiu fomentar l’intercanvi i la reutilització d’objectes de segona mà entre veïns com una alternativa pròspera i respectuosa amb el medi ambient atès que els ciutadans es converteixen en agents actius que fomenten una economia circular a nivell local. La cadena de les 4R -reduir, reutilitzar, reciclar i recuperar- són l’essència dels mercats ambulants veïnals ja que allarguen la vida dels objectes que ja no s’utilitzen, amb la qual cosa es generen menys residus.

El mercadet serà dia 26 de Novembre de 10h a 14h a la Plaça Miquel Capllonch de Port de Pollença, Mallorca.
