Reusable Nappy Scheme – Belfast City Council

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

Belfast City Council offers Belfast parents 2 reusable nappy schemes. The schemes allow parents to try out washable nappies as an alternative to single use nappies, reducing waste in the city. It also helps reduce the amount of plastic packaging that is destined for landfill.

There are 2 incentive schemes on offer:
1. Free 2 week trial of washable nappies – in partnership with the Nappy Library in NI, we allow families to try out a full washable nappy pack for 2 weeks free of charge.
2. £30 cash-back scheme – If families purchase their own washable nappies and spend over £50, we will refund them £30.

Both schemes reduce the financial burden of a more sustainable option, which is often the reason people stay with single use items. Families can choose one or other scheme, or they can do both. Both schemes encourage waste reduction, both for nappies and plastic packaging in landfill.
