Weekly Cleanups at Ghar Lapsi Natura 2000 from frequent Illegal dumping and Littering
• WHAT will be done
7R Lifestyle Malta has been actively cleaning up Ghar Lapsi Natura 2000 for the past 2 years (since Sep 2020).
Our plan is to clean all the area. We try to do 1 to 2 hour cleanup weekly usually on Saturdays or on Sundays. Photos / videos or live videos of every cleanup are posted on social media.
Our vision is to keep this area as clean as much as possible through different other preventive and corrective actions eg. through meetings with ERA, Regional Council and Local council. Actions from these entities is very slow or no action at all is implemented.
With regards to reporting illegal dumping and littering or any other environmental crime we feel that there are lots of overlaps between government entities and citizens are unaware of them. Since we gained experience and knowledge on the system while doing cleanups, we will share information on which entities or authorities are responsible for cleaning and as well to enforce it during the EWWR.
This will be useful as a tool to help citizens to take action by reporting to the right entity.
