Turning surplus perishables into nutritious recipes

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

At FareShare in Northern Ireland, we take good quality surplus food from retailers, manufacturers and growers, and redistribute this to our network of charities, schools and community groups across the region. Last year, we redistributed 726 tonnes of surplus food to over 170+ charities across Northern Ireland.

Due to the unpredictable nature of surplus stock, we are sometimes left with large volumes of perishable items, such as fruit, vegetables and dairy. This year for EWWR, we are challenging our staff and volunteers to turn our “surplus-surplus” into nutritious meals. We will then collate these recipes and turn this into a recipe book to be kept in our canteen, as well as being distributed to staff and volunteers.
