Xagħra Local Council will be organizing a clean-up activity for the locality’s primary school and its residents. Prior to the clean-up, and during the EWWR, the Local Council will be running an online social media campaign, giving information about waste and the upcoming clean-up activity. Therefore, during this week, thanks to posts issued by the Local Council, people will receive information about the following facts:

*The importance of the 3R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle *the fact that unwanted items are disccarded in the environnent they not only pollute, but also miss the opportunity of being recycled and becoming a resource once again * the important use fo the CAS in Tal-Kus Xewkija and its Reuse Centre *What goes where i.e. what can and cannot be recycled *information about the Roadshow Trucks *Medicines should be disposed at pharmacies *electronic waste ie items taking batteries, having wires etc should never be disposed in any of the bags – either at a CAS or a Roadshow truck Cigarette butts – small plastic items which easily reach our beaches and sea when it rains. Under weather elements these butts break into micro plastics and get into our food chain * Ask people to join clean-up/meeting point/what to wear *How waste will be collected / separated and disposed off during the event.
