Description:
Description of the EWWR action:
Monitoring food waste in the school canteen and students’ bar by collecting leftovers from the meals served for a week, from 11th to 16th November – prior to EWWR. At the end, the food remains will be weighed.
Raising awareness and alerting the educational community through the following actions:
- Using of resources provided by LIPOR;
- Implementing actions with students during citizenship classes or other classes;
- Disclosing to the Parents’ Association and the children’s guardians, through the class director.
During EWWR week, the results of the monitoring carried out will be published.
What makes your action the best?
It is important to make students aware of the amount of food waste produced during meals.
The data collected will be studied and debated with students, so that they can find solutions to avoid food waste and reduce it.
Through this activity, students will be able to adopt correct habits to eliminate and reduce food waste.
Visibility and communication: haw will you reach the people?
We will be able to reach the Educational Community by publishing an article in the school newspaper and by publicizing the activity in a video on Mupi.
What makes your action original or innovative?
Through small and simple gestures involving any meal, we will educate the future generation. This way, students will be able to adopt good habits to reduce food waste.
How will your action have a lasting impact and how will you follow-up on it?
This action promotes reflection among the entire educational community, promoting awareness of the need to reduce water waste.
How will you evaluate the success of your project?
Around 200 students will be involved in this project. After weighing the food waste, the class that manages to produce the least waste will be congratulated.
